All medications, whether prescription or over-the-counter, must be kept in the health office. Medications must be sent to school in the original labeled container and must be accompanied by a Medication Dispensing Form signed by both the physician (or dentist) and the parent. These forms are available in the health office or on the school website in the parent resource section.
Parental permission may be given for the nurse to administer Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen by signing the appropriate place on the back of the emergency cards distributed each September. In addition, non-prescription medications such as cough drops, throat spray, antacid tablets and antibiotic ointment are available for administration in the health room.
All controlled medications must be hand-delivered to the school nurse or principal’s designee by a parent or guardian at which time it will be counted and signed for. Some examples of controlled medications include, but are not limited to Ritalin, Concerta, Dexedrine, Adderall and Ativan.
